Fassbender Is RoboCop?

We reported on the RoboCop remake a few days ago and now more news on the upcoming movie has surfaced. It’s been reported that director Jose Padilha wants Michael Fassbender to play the metal cop.

Padilha said:

“I can’t talk yet, it’s too early to speak, but there are some actors I like. I really like the Fassbender, I’d like to talk to him — I’ll talk to him. There’s a possibility… and there’s a lot of other great actors that would play RoboCop. But that’s the idea, to film around January, February, March.”

The number of possible movie remakes coming up doesn’t look like it will be reducing any time soon. Director Jose Padilha has just been talking about a potential remake of 1987 classic RoboCop.

If a remake is to happen though Padilha is promising it will be different from its predecessor. Really? The basics (a cop turned into a robot after a shoot out) are going to be hard to get away from – so what do they have in store? What do you think – good idea or not?
