The first film was, quite literally, Kick Ass. So we’re hoping the sequel will live up to expectations. Mark Miller has recently been talking about the (unexpected) success of the first film, which he believes could jeopardise the involvement of some of the original crew.
Miller was quoted by the LA Times: “The thing about the first movie is that it kind of exploded all our careers. People forget, but this was a $28m indie movie made in the UK. It grossed $100m at theatres and made the same again and more on DVD and Blu-ray and got amazing reviews. So everybody involved suddenly got hired for a million different things, and re-forming the band again would be impossible.”
The thing that made Kick Ass so good to watch (apart from the hilarious costumes) was the on-screen chemistry and capability of the cast. Although we doubt Nicolas Cage will be returning – for obvious reasons – would a sequel really work without Aaron Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz?
